A “hardened” Fife paedophile was caught downloading twisted child abuse files just months after being released from jail. Deviant Paul Scally, 45, began downloading vile files in November 2023, having only been liberated from prison that July. Scally was subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order during some of his offending, having previously jailed a decade ago for sex offences against a child.

A Dundee man has been locked up for more than two years for knifing someone who was run over in broad daylight moments later. Jayden Robertson, now 20, was brought from prison to Dundee Sheriff Court to be sentenced for his role in the vicious attack. Robertson chased James Cooper and struck him with a knife, before Marley Williams mowed him down in a bid to kill him on Strathmartine Road.

A thug abducted and threatened to kill his partner in a terrifying attack in Forfar weeks after appearing in court for biting her. Roadworker Michael McKay locked his victim inside her first floor flat, held a knife against her throat and threatened to kill her. Just three weeks earlier, he had appeared in court from custody after biting her chest following an argument. He is now awaiting sentence and will be assessed for a supervised release order following the imposition of a jail term.

A Dundee 23-year-old has admitted carrying out a life-endangering attack on a new-born baby. First offender Jay Dixon, 23, pled guilty to two courses of domestic abuse towards partners, as well as neglecting and seriously assaulting the baby, who was less than a month old. He had initially been charged with attempting to murder the infant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

A Dundee teenager has been sentenced after he left a young rival permanently disfigured in a hammer attack, in view of children playing football. Cody Chambers used the tool to club his teenage victim on the head on the city’s Doon Terrace. The victim, who was 19, was left scarred for life after suffering a three-centimetre gash to the right side of his forehead, which needed stitches.
St Andrews Rifle Club creep under supervision for sexual assaults

The disgraced former president of St Andrews Rifle Club has been placed under supervision after being found guilty of a string of sexual assaults on female students. Earlier this year, Dundee Sheriff Court heard how volunteer Patrick Jess’s victims believed he was an employee of the university and he never saw fit to correct them. On Thursday, he was placed on the sex offenders register and ordered to complete unpaid work as a direct alternative to imprisonment.

A St Andrews paedophile, already jailed for having sick child abuse material, has been given another prison term after police sniffer dogs helped uncover further offending. Arron Kyle, 23, was caught out when police raided his grandparents’ home, where he slept on a couch. A Collie had to be put down five days after being viciously attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier in a field in the East Neuk of Fife. The Collie’s 75-year-old owner was also injured in the incident on February 11 2024. Gail Forbes returned to Dundee Sheriff Court to be sentenced after admitting responsibility for allowing the dog – named Junior – to be dangerously out of control. It was revealed Junior was subject to a dog control notice imposed on May 5 2021 and has since been destroyed.
Dunfermline man gained infant abuse pictures 'because of curiosity'

A Dunfermline man has been sentenced after police found evidence of sick infant abuse pictures on his phone. Last month, Kieron Lawson appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court to admit taking or making the twisted files between May 20 and August 14 last year. As officers explained their early-morning raid, Lawson told them: “It’s me, I’ll give you my phone.”Lawson claimed he was not sexually attracted to the sick files, which included children as young as infants being abused.
