A violent yob has been jailed after he attacked two men in Perth five months apart, biting one on the forehead. Kieran Phillips, also known as Kieran Kennedy, punched one man to the ground in the city centre then hit and bit his ex-partner’s neighbour a week before Christmas. Phillips had only been put on a community payback order the day before his first assault and was on bail during both incidents.

A Dundee ‘Good Samaritan’ who waded into a skirmish in which three other people were engaged left one unconscious and needing a metal plate fitted in his leg. Peter McLean was finally sentenced for seriously assaulting Jordan Dandie in 2021. Dundee Sheriff Court heard McLean had initially tried to play the peacemaker when his friend, that friend’s sister and her partner – Mr Dandie – became involved in a scuffle on Balunie Drive in the small hours of the morning.

A drunken Angus man ruined a German couple’s holiday in Scotland when he made Nazi salutes and played a Third Reich anthem on their train. John Clenaghan was blasted at Perth Sheriff Court when his ill-fated attempt at humour left the tourists upset and alarmed as they travelled into Tayside on May 25 last year. Boozed-up bigot Clenaghan tormented the couple after finding out their nationality and he was eventually reported to police by other passengers.

An inebriated swordsman set alight a hanging basket outside a popular Perth pub on a Saturday night. Management at the popular Half A Tanner bar were grateful inebriated John Swanson only caused £20 worth of damage when he set one of their hanging baskets alight on a Saturday night in November. The offender, high after a four-day drink-and-drug fuelled bender, also went on to torch a wheelie bin in nearby Fleshers Vennel.
