Energy workers have spoken out over job losses after a new poll found UK voters strongly backed the North Sea oil and gas sector. Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce is calling for urgent government action following a wave of job losses across the North Sea energy sector. The Chamber warned that the UK is sleepwalking into a future of higher emissions, imported energy, and economic decline.

A 28-year-old man has been jailed for six-and-a-half years after being convicted of sexual abuse and drugs offences in the north-east. Jamie Chapman committed the sick crimes, which involved children, between 2021 and 2022 in Buckie in Moray. He was sentenced at the High Court in Dundee on Thursday having previously been found guilty at the High Court in Inverness in April. Mr Chapman was also placed on the sex offenders register.

A mansion owned by Stewart Milne has had its price tag slashed by £2.5million after sitting on the market for three years. Dalhebity House, situated in the Bieldside suburb in Aberdeen, was put up for grabs back in May 2022 with an asking price of offers over £7.5million. However, the Granite City businessman is still seeking a buyer, with those interested in the 11-bed mansion able to snap it up for £5million.

A group launched with the aim of regenerating, repopulating, and reinvigorating Union Street has been awarded a grant of £400,000. Aberdeen City Council’s Finance and Resources Committee approved the money to Our Union Street on Wednesday, which is on top of £100,000 over a three-year period agreed at the Council Budget on 1 March 2023. The local authority's co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: "We look forward to seeing what work Our Union Street will do with the £400,000 grant money.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin has been named the Premiership Manager of the Month for the third time this season, completing a hat-trick of awards. The Dons boss was given the prize after his side gained seven out of nine points in April with victories over Ross County and a Hibs side unbeaten in 17 games.
