    Emergency services are currently in attendance at a crash which has shut the A93 in Aberdeenshire this afternoon. Police and paramedics are at the scene of a one-vehicle crash which occurred near the junction with the A957 at Crathes at around 11.40am. The condition of the car's occupants is currently unknown, and drivers are currently being diverted away from the area on the outskirts of Banchory. Police have also urged drivers to allow extra time for their journeys due to the road closure.

    John Swinney has defended his Health Secretary Neil Gray, following accusations he was chauffeured to a pub in Aberdeen ahead of a football match. The First Minister said the car was used “in accordance with the rules that have been set out within the guidance”. In November last year, Mr Gray apologised after it emerged he had attended four Aberdeen football matches, being driven to the games in a government car.

    Pregnant mothers could be asked to bring their own nappies for their newborns as NHS Grampian plans to stop handing them out to save cash. That is just one of many measures the cash-strapped health board has unveiled as it aims to save £23 million over the next year. A financial recovery plan with 79 proposed savings was developed and submitted to the Scottish Government last month which would reduce its deficit to £45m.
