A group of pro-low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) campaigners has had an appeal hearing granted after they lost a High Court battle which challenged an East London council's decision to remove several schemes in the borough. In December 2024, a judge found Tower Hamlets Council followed proper procedures when it removed three LTNs and reopened areas of Old Bethnal Green Road, Columbia Road and Arnold Circus.

Plans to build a block of flats in East London have been given the green light - despite none of them being 'affordable'. The site, which is located at 116-122 Barking Road in Canning Town, is currently home to a cluster of shops, including a barbershop, a pawnbroker and 5 two-bed flats. The plans will see a set of two-storey buildings demolished to make way for a new seven-storey building that will provide 15 new homes, consisting of 10 one-bedrooms and 5 three-bedrooms.

An East London pizza joint will not be able to stay open until 5am every day after a late-night licence application was refused by councillors. Popular Pizza, located on Commercial Road in Tower Hamlets, had applied for a new premise licence so it could stay open beyond 11pm for seven days a week.
