The Buzzzed Mobile Bar & Coffee House is gearing up for its official launch in April 2025. Gary Fisher, a Veteran, and his daughter will be serving up specialty coffees, alcoholic beverages, Lotus energy drinks and more at events like the craft fair at Castle Hoke. They’ve also partnered with the Carolina Crew women’s soccer team and will be at their events as well. One of the focuses of the brand is on using more natural ingredients. Fisher is excited to bring Lotus energy drinks to their menu.

Cumberland County is one of 14 community teams selected to participate in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Our State, Our Homes program, an initiative of the Carolina Across 100 program. Announced Wednesday, Jan. 22, the program aims to help improve access to and availability of affordable housing options in the state. Cumberland County joins 22 counties grouped into teams with other localities to collaborate on addressing affordable housing challenges.

Contract crews began this week removing the East Russell Street bridge heavily damaged by fire in downtown Fayetteville. A ruptured natural gas line sparked the fire about one year ago underneath the eastbound span over Blounts Creek. The N.C. Department of Transportation barricaded the bridge after the fire bent the steel beams, buckled the deck and damaged the pavement. The westbound bridge at this same location was unaffected and has remained open.

Hello and Happy New Year to you, dear reader! Now that we’ve passed all of the holidays and have already begun failing at keeping up with New Year’s resolutions (at least I have, working out every day has quickly dwindled to working out every three days but, I digress) I hope everyone is getting back into the swing of things smoothly! One resolution I am keen on keeping is looking more closely at where and how I spend my dollars this year.

Robeson Community College has named Renee Collins as the new Vice President of the RCC Foundation. “This was a wonderful opportunity to move into a leadership role and I’m excited about the possibilities that the future hold,” Collins stated in a press release.
