CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University student-led Corvallis Food Project has had another successful food drive, collecting 10,000 pounds of food for local pantries and the college food bank. Project members collected donations from area homes on specific days each term. Launched two years ago, the nonprofit’s creator was inspired by the Medford Food Project, where they volunteered in high school. Their mission is simply to fight food poverty within their community.

TYEE, Ore. – Alcohol may have been a factor in a single-vehicle rollover crash that claimed the lives of a Drain couple last weekend, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. DCSO officials said that they believe the crash, which was reported to 911 dispatchers around 5 p.m. on May 24, happened early in the morning. The crash site was located on Weyerhaeuser timber property west of the unincorporated community of Tyee, sheriff’s officials said.

SWEET HOME, Ore. – Sweet Home schools were locked down on Thursday afternoon after police officials received what they believe was a ‘swatting’ call intended to draw a large law enforcement response, according to the Sweet Home Police Department. SWPD officials said that they received a call shortly after noon on May 29 from a caller who said his sister had shot their parents at a home across from the Sweet Home High School football field.

EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene School District 4J officials said that North Eugene High School was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon as a safety precautionary measure at the recommendation of Eugene police officials. The district issued a notice to NEHS families around noon today, 4J district officials said. The district said that all students and staff are safely inside the school and accounted for and all practiced safety protocols are being followed.
