Fast-growing English fried chicken restaurant chain Wingers has included Northern Ireland as part of its latest expansion plans. The company, set up in 2020 by the Sunner family, is targeting 30 new sites by the end of 2025. Known for its buttermilk fried chicken wings and tenders, the company has expanded to 14 restaurants since opening its first site in Aldridge five years ago. The growth of the West Midlands company has been driven by the franchise model the Sunner family has adopted.

The Co Down company behind the Airtastic and Funky Monkey indoor entertainment centres has reported a pre-tax profit of just over £1.5 million. Funky Monkey Playcentres Ltd, which owns a dozen indoor venues across the island of Ireland and Britain, enjoyed a 21% uplift in its annual revenue to £16.5m last year, according to the latest accounts filed with Companies House.

The parent company of Translink has formally lodged plans to develop a £36.4 million office building on the car park at Belfast’s Lanyon Place Train Station. The application from the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company (NITHC) represents a scaling down of the East Bridge Street development, which has been styled as the ‘Gateway Building’ by Todd Architects. The NITHC, which owns the car park, has been the public corporation responsible for the operation of Translink since the late 1960s.

The Consumer Council survey published this morning put the 500L home heating oil average at £269.72. Since then at least two dozen firms are quoting £250 or less. At least 4 are currently quoting £238 for 500L. Last time we were here was September 2021.
