FARGO — The potential for a boys hockey co-op between Fargo South and Fargo North will be examined in-depth Wednesday. With insufficient participation numbers to field a program of its own next season, South is in search of a new co-op home following the dissolution of its previous co-op agreement with Fargo Shanley, Fargo Oak Grove and Moorhead Park Christian last week. The South and Shanley co-op partnership spanned 15 years and included a state championship in 2023.

FARGO — John Oxton would have relished the opportunity to coach basketball at his alma mater. But the stars never aligned for the Fargo North grad of 1979. “I always just kind of felt like, ‘Well, if it’s in the cards to go back to Fargo someday, maybe,’ ” Oxton said. “But Lakeville has been so good to me, it’s become our second home for sure.”Oxton is referring to Lakeville, Minnesota, the Twin Cities exurb he’s now called home for 35 years. Lakeville wasn’t the first stop on his journey.

FARGO — Thursday’s track and field meet at Horace High School marked the beginning of the outdoor season one final time for this year’s seniors. Axumite Wren James and Nishi Yvette are two of those seniors along with being two of Fargo South’s four captains on the girls team this season. Bright futures are ahead for both. James will run collegiately at North Dakota State next season while Yvette will compete at the University of Jamestown.

FARGO — Each June, North Dakota’s and northwest Minnesota’s best senior football players descend upon Mayville State University for the annual Shrine Bowl all-star games. Rosters for the 51st installment, set this year for Saturday, June 21, were announced Wednesday. Both games will once again take place at Jerome Berg Field.
