After starting two games in the 2023 season as the team captain, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to undergo a complex brain surgery on his cerebellum. In the surgery, Brooks Jr. suffered multiple strokes and was permanently disabled. Brooks filed a lawsuit alleging multiple claims of medical malpractice and general negligence against LSU and Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

Foster was the runner-up but still captivated the nation with his old-school country sound. Since November, Foster has been non-stop, building a massive fan base and making his home state proud. He tells WAFB that he’s done a good job at sticking to his core values: faith, family, and love.

    BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - For over 3 years, Mary Nguyen has been fighting for her incarcerated daughter to get proper care. This week, a report by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor shed some light on the claims she’s been making. Nguyen told WAFB that her daughter has struggled with mental health her whole life and has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She says her daughter struggled with a heroin addiction, was arrested on drug charges, and missed several court dates.

(WAFB) - Louisiana’s Attorney General Liz Murrill is supporting Representative Lauren Ventrella and her bill that would expand civil liabilities for anyone who helps a woman get an abortion. She said right now, abortion pills aren’t well regulated online, so patients may not be aware of potential adverse effects. This bill would mean anyone who causes, aids, or abets an abortion, including manufacturers, prescribers, and distributors, could face a civil lawsuit.

(KNOE) - According to the New York Times, former Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards (D) called and met with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer about a potential run for Senate against current Senator Bill Cassidy (R). The party primary is April 18, 2026. The general election is in November 2026. Edwards reportedly told Schumer to follow up in August, keeping his intentions vague.
