For the past few months, city council meetings have been met with a growing attendance of people voicing their support or concern regarding a ceasefire resolution, which was introduced in early March and failed to collect enough votes to pass.

Sealy is the District Board of Education student liaison and on the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. He's wanted to be a pilot since he was 6 years old. On Friday, Jan. 19, he stood before a hall full of elected officials, school administrators, community organizers and business owners at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast, hosted by Catharine Street.

Parisi will be taking over the leadership role from William Grady, who held the position for the past four decades before retiring last year. Parisi is also the first Democrat to hold the position in over a century.

Saba AliPoughkeepsie JournalThis was a year of many firsts for Abilities First, an organization supporting individuals with disabilities and their families in the Hudson Valley. Abilities First, located in Wappingers Falls, launched its Life Skills Lab which helps clients learn independence through working in the kitchen with meal preparation and planning. The first meal the group made was black bean quesadillas, avocado and tomato salad, and apple crisp for dessert.
