The man convicted of killing a Denver police officer and shooting another nearly 20 years ago was denied admission to an early parole program. "It's a good day," former Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey told The Denver Gazette Tuesday after hearing that Raul Gomez-Garcia was denied admission to the Colorado's Department of Corrections Program for Juvenile Offenders.

The Colorado Department of Transportation warned of nightly closures along Interstate 25 this summer because of a repaving project. The department will work on repaving and improving the surfaces of a five-mile stretch of I-25 between Alameda Avenue and 44th Avenue in central Denver, according to the transportation department. The work will also include repairing expansion joints between the roadway and bridges, new signs and restriping, the department said.

The Aurora Police Department arrested a suspect after a fatal shooting at a parking lot on Friday evening. The department arrested Stanley Daves on suspicion of first-degree murder on Saturday morning in connection to the shooting in the area of 630 North Peoria Street around 5 p.m. on Friday, according to a news release from the department. Officers found Daves at the parking lot with a gun near him inside of a vehicle and a woman outside of the vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds.

A Lone Tree man pleaded guilty Friday to owning "hundreds of thousands" of explicit images of children, including babies and toddlers. The Lone Tree Police Department began investigating 29-year-old Daryl Henry Joe Jr. in March 2024 regarding sexually explicit images being linked to his address, according to a news release from the 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office.
