Even in the midst of the Boston Red Sox’s blowout loss to the Detroit Tigers on Monday night, Wilyer Abreu continued to stand out in a big way. The 25-year-old right fielder blasted a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning, cutting the deficit to 11. He finished the contest 1-for-4 out of the No. 5 hole as Boston proceeded to lose 12-2. Abreu is now batting .279 with a .941 OPS this season. Through 41 games, he is up to 11 home runs, seven doubles, 24 runs, 27 RBIs, 22 walks and a 2.1 WAR.

Witt added a triple in a 2-for-4 performance against the Houston Astros on Monday night, notching two RBIs in the Royals' 7-5 win. He is now batting .319 with five home runs, 17 doubles, 25 RBIs, 27 runs, 14 stolen bases and a .910 OPS so far this season. With a 2.6 WAR through 43 games, Witt is on pace to outdo his 9.4 WAR from 2024. The Royals, who are an MLB-best 17-4 since April 20, will face off against the Astros again on Tuesday.

Bobby Witt Jr. got overshadowed in the AL MVP race in 2024, and the same is happening in 2025. The Kansas City Royals' shortstop has put up historic production so far this season, but his numbers aren't quite as eye-popping as a certain slugger's on the New York Yankees. Aaron Judge leads all of MLB in hits, home runs, RBIs, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS and WAR, which has earned him far more praise than Witt.

The New York Yankees were cruising to a comfortable victory when they got dealt a brutal blow. With one out in the top of the ninth inning against the Seattle Mariners, Aaron Judge flied out to right. It was deep enough for Oswaldo Cabrera to score from third on a sacrifice fly, putting the Yankees up 11-5. As Cabrera tried dodging the tag, however, he went down with a left leg injury.

If this is the standard we’re setting, the Lakers should have to drop “Los Angeles” from their name if they want to claim their 17 NBA titles.

I just noticed that ever since they rebranded as Athletics they realized they could count the Philadelphia championships https://t.co/MkhuGb3NmU

With the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics over 3 years away, the possibility of MLB players' participation still hasn't been sorted out yet. I talked to @LA28 chairman Casey Wasserman about the process, including how the 2026 @WBCBaseball comes into play: https://t.co/q0VAzYFlm6

I refuse to accept the Ball family being on this list over the Holiday family, Gavin.
