LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - With spring in full swing, the dog days of summer are right around the corner. However, the days of cooling off at the Camp Taylor pool are going to have to wait another summer. Mayor Craig Greenberg made the announcement Tuesday morning, saying January’s winter storm, plus the recent rain and flooding, have delayed the construction schedule so much so that the pool won’t open until next summer. It’s been closed since 2019 and is currently undergoing renovations.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Jefferson County Public Schools says they were not made aware of a potential change to Louisville Metro’s lease agreement with Churchill Downs that would get rid of the racetrack’s payment to JCPS. Churchill Downs, which is owned by the city, is exempt from paying property taxes but has made annual payments to JCPS that are supposed to be the equalvalent to what the track would pay in taxes if it were privately owned.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - New trees were planted at Lynn Family Stadium Tuesday to soon bring some shade to your walks to the game. Stadium employees joined Racing Louisville defender Lauren Milliet for some Earth Day tree planting. They put in around 31 trees on the west side of the campus. A lot of that area is exposed to the sun. Oaks, Magnolias and Honey Locusts are among the tree species that were planted today.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Norton Healthcare’s facility dog Juno has passed away due to complications from cancer. Norton Healthcare announced Juno’s passing Monday. They said Juno had been diagnosed with cancer and treatment was not possible. Juno had just celebrated her 10th birthday. She had been part of the facility dog program for six years, visiting patients and staff mainly at Norton Women’s and Children’s, Norton Children’s, and Norton Hospital.
