    LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Louisville Metro police are investigating a shooting this morning that left one person wounded. The shooting was reported around 8:40 a.m. in the 2800 block of Triplett Ct. off Lower Hunters Trace in the Pleasure Ridge Park area. Officers found an adult woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to UofL Hospital for treatment. LMPD says the woman is expected to survive her injury. No arrests have been made.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is asking for help from the public to identify a person who was found dead last year. Deputy Coroner Steve Moran says the person is a Black female who appears to be in her 20s or early 30s. She is approximately 5′3″ and weighs around 140 pounds. The woman was wearing pajama type pants, a dark shirt, and no shoes. Moran said fingerprint and DNA analysis were unsuccessful.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The winner of the 151st Kentucky Derby will not be competing for the Triple Crown. Officials for the 150th Preakness Stakes announced that Sovereignty will not run in the May 17 race at Baltimore’s Pimlico Race Course. Previously, trainer Bill Mott said Sovereignty sustained a slight ankle injury during his Kentucky Derby run. “We extend our congratulations to the connections of Sovereignty and respect their decision.

    UTICA, Ind. (WAVE) - An officer with the Utica, Indiana Police Department has been fired after evidence, specifically marijuana, was found in a plastic tote near the officer’s cruiser inside the Utica Township Fire Department. On April 30, 2025, a volunteer helping clean up the firehouse found the tote in a bay area near the officer’s vehicle. The tote contained officer case files and evidence which included drugs. The volunteer firefighter quickly reported the discovery to Indiana State Police.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – An overturned semi is creating delays for southbound Interstate 65 traffic exiting the Kennedy Bridge. The accident, which was reported around 12:45 p.m., happened at mile marker 136.6, according to TRIMARC. Louisville Metro police say the semi was transporting other vehicles and those vehicles fell off the trailer. No injuries were reported. Crews are working to clear the scene. Copyright 2025 WAVE.
