    BULLARD — The community is mourning the death of an East Texas educator. Casey Acker, 41, of Flint, was surrounded by family and friends when she died on Tuesday, according to her obituary. Acker was a second-grade teacher at Bullard ISD. Prior to working at Bullard, she spent five years teaching at Cain Elementary in Whitehouse ISD. Before that, Acker taught pre-K students at West Side in Jacksonville.

    Law enforcement officers are searching for an armed robbery suspect after an incident at a Winona convenience store Tuesday morning. The Smith County Sheriff's Office said just before 11 a.m. that its deputies are on the scene at the Courtesy Mart, located in the 300 block of South Main Street in Winona. The alleged armed robbery took place around 10:30 a.m. The sheriff's office said a suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and robbed the clerk.
