Officials have confirmed a tornado struck Bullard earlier this week. The EF-1 tornado occurred Tuesday around 1:41 p.m. and lasted for about seven minutes, according to the National Weather Service of Shreveport. The NWS sent surveyors to Smith County on Thursday who were able to confirm details of the tornadic event. “The survey team determined that damage across the southern part of the county was consistent with that of an EF-1 tornado,” NWS said in a statement.

The Smith County Elections Office said it is going through the standard process, which will include canvassing to finalize the results and make them official. Severe weather and heavy rain is expected to move through East Texas on Tuesday. The highest risk for severe storms is near and south of Interstate 20 in East Texas, according to the National Weather Service of Shreveport. The NWS has placed Tyler, Longview, and much of the rest of East Texas in the slight risk category for possible tornadoes, damaging wind gusts of 60 mph and large hail. The arrival of the severe weather is expected to be afternoon and evening.

A missing Smith County woman was found dead Monday in the Lindale area, authorities said. Around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night, Smith County's emergency operations center received a call about a missing person — Hyemin "Katherine" Wee. Deputies went out to 14366 Ridgeway near Garden Valley Golf Course in Lindale, where the Wee's vehicle had been located. Authorities said Wee was suicidal. She was found dead around 3:45 p.m. Monday afternoon after authorities spent the day searching.

Around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night, Smith County's emergency operations center received a call about a missing person — Hyemin "Katherine" Wee. Deputies went out to 14366 Ridgeway near Garden Valley Golf Course in Lindale, where the Wee's vehicle had been located. Wee is an Asian woman who is about 5-foot-2 and weighs about 140 pounds.

Severe weather moved through East Texas on Wednesday, prompting multiple weather alerts and causing outages and flooding in Smith County. A number of county roads remained closed Thursday after heavy rains. As of 1:20 p.m., the Smith County Road and Bridge Department reported additional Smith County road closures after last night’s heavy rains. County Road 112, in the southeast part of Smith County near Antioch, has a culvert washed out and will remain closed until it can be repaired.

Severe weather on Wednesday was moving through East Texas, prompting multiple weather alerts. A flash flood warning has been extended until 11 p.m. Wednesday for Cass, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Panola, Rusk and southeastern Smith counties. Around 5:40 p.m., radar and rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen with up to 4 inches possible in through 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
