The project will replace apartments built in the 1940s on a 4-acre plot of land. An affordable housing group's redevelopment will bring 166 housing units to Southeast Portland. Home Forward wants to replace an existing housing project, at 2835 S.E. 47th Ave., that was at the end of its building lifetime. The property's current residents were relocated and will be able to return to the new apartment building once it's completed.

The project will be the first development at the Broadway Corridor site, which has been ongoing for years. Plans for the first housing development at the former United States Postal Service site in the Broadway Corridor are taking shape as developers inch closer to breaking ground. Home Forward plans to build a 14-story building with 229 units of housing for households making 60% or less of the area median income. It’s the first of several planned for a 34-acre site.

The project aims to redevelop the Tom McCall Waterfront Park Bowl just south of the west side of the Hawthorne Bridge. The Waterfront Blues Fest venue is poised to get a makeover after Metro Council granted Portland Parks & Recreation $750,000 for its redevelopment. The project will redevelop the bowl area of the Tom McCall Waterfront Park located between RiverPlace and the Marina, just south of the Hawthorne Bridge.

The iconic red, barn-like building that housed Bob’s Red Mill Whole Grain Store & Restaurant for 22 years is for sale. The 20,889-square-foot building in Milwaukie was listed for $5.9 million if February after the company announced it was closing the retail business. CEO Trey Winthrop told the Business Journal last month the cafe and store had posted losses for years.
