A major expansion of the Gippsland Regional Organics facility at Dutson Downs in Gippsland will increase the plant’s capacity to process organic waste into compost by 70,000 tonnes to 250,000 tonnes. The project will make it easier for Victorians’ recycling to be transformed into quality compost products that will enrich local agriculture and improve soil quality on local farms.

The Gold Coast council is under fire for slugging unit owners living on higher floors of apartment buildings with massive rate hikes. The move, dubbed by advocacy groups as a "view tax", hits high-rise apartment owners living on the 40th floor or above with a rate increase of up to 50 per cent. Owner occupiers who live between high-rise levels 21 to 40 have seen their rates rise by up to 40 per cent in the past six months, while rates for those who live on floors 11 to 20 are up 30 per cent.
