The New South Wales Central Coast electorate of Robertson has maintained its status as the nation's longest-surviving bellwether seat. Ever since 1983, the party which has won Robertson has gone on to form government. By about 9pm on election night, it became obvious that trend, which has now spanned 16 elections in a row, would continue. Labor's sitting member Gordon Reid arrived at Labor's function in Ettalong to raucous applause as the Split Enz song I See Red blared through the speakers.

Gonkey, a four-year-old dairy goat, has been fighting for its life after being bitten by a red-bellied black snake at a wildlife park on the NSW Central Coast. The goat has been given $3,000 worth of antivenom, and donations of IV fluids have been sent from as far away as Victoria. Gonkey has physiotherapy sessions four times a day to help it walk again, but is not out of the woods.

Gosford City Bowling Club is facing imminent closure with the land it sits on slated for redevelopment. The leagues club that supported the venue for almost 40 years has severed ties with no notice. The bowling club is looking for support to remain viable. At 91, Bill Murphy is one of the longest-serving members of Gosford City Bowling Club. It is the reason he gets out of bed in the morning. "My wife passed away 18 years ago, so bowls is my only social life these days," Mr Murphy said.

A man charged over an anti-Semitic graffiti attack on a business in a Newcastle suburb has refused to speak as he faced court. Bjorn Johnson, 47, appeared in Newcastle Local Court today, charged with intentionally marking premises without prescribed consent and knowingly displaying a Nazi symbol without an excuse. The Wadalba man was arrested and remanded in custody on Sunday after painted Nazi symbols were found on a wall outside a Hamilton pharmacy and reported to police.

Surveillance efforts on the New South Wales Central Coast have ramped up to ensure the most dangerous strain of bird flu does not enter Australia disguised as botulism, which has similar symptoms. Avian botulism is a paralytic disease that can kill wild birds like swans, pelicans, and ducks when they ingest a naturally occurring bacteria-produced toxin. More than a dozen pelicans, some of which have died, have been found with the suspected condition around Tuggerah Lakes in recent weeks.
