LATTA, S.C. -- Latta softball captured this year's SCHSL Class A state championship with Wednesday's 5-2 win over Lewisville. It's the program's third state crown in A or 2A. Latta, under then-coach Stephanie Ard, won the Class A state crown in 2015. Then, Ard's 2017 Vikings won it all in 2A. This year's Vikings set up the state crown in this best-of-three-game series by winning Tuesday's Game 1 by the score of 3-0.

FLORENCE, S.C. − The South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association released its list of all-state players Monday. Along with earning that honor, Lake View High School's Kason Herlong was also tabbed as the 1A Player of the Year. Lake View Kason HerlongLake View all-state selection Kason Herlong was also named the 1A Player of the Year. Several others from the Pee Dee were recognized as all-state, as well as region players of the year.

FLORENCE, S.C. -- Lake View all-state selections Kason Herlong and Chris McGill are also Class A's co-players of the year. This, according to the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association. Several others from the Pee Dee were recognized as all-state, as well as region players of the year. In 4A, Hartsville's Jaden Atkinson and South Florence's Brayden Robinson are all-state. Robinson is Region 5's pitcher of the year, and Atkinson is player of the year. Red Fox Jackson Moore is also all-state.
