The Crusaders earned not only the host spot for the NAIA’s initial round, but also will stand as top seed at Milton Wheeler Field. Oklahoma Wesleyan University was slotted as second seed in the four-team bracket and will take on third-seeded British Columbia University.

Halford passed former Mississippi State University baseball coach Ron Polk on the state’s all-time wins list to become Mississippi’s winningest college baseball coach. Halford has won numerous conference championships and Coach of the Year awards. His Carey teams have made 11 appearances in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ World Series.
