Davis Rivers hit two of the long balls. Rivers and Logan Hughes drove in four runs apiece, Hughes with a homer and two doubles. Zane Petty (1-2) went eight innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

    The Texas Tech basketball team has its second member of the 2025 high school recruiting class. The Red Raiders earned a commitment from Nolan Groves out of Orono, Minnesota, Saturday night. Groves announced his commitment on Instagram. Groves joins fellow Class of 2025 recruit Marial Akuentok, though Akuentok reclassified to join the Red Raiders for the second semester and took a redshirt for the 2024-25 season. Listed at 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard by 247Sports, Groves is an unranked prospect.

So the Red Raiders' new quarterback who transferred from halfway across the country wasn't going to sit out because he was sick. Good thing.
