PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A police officer is in critical condition after he was shot near Overbrook High School. During a news conference outside of Penn Presbyterian Medical Center Wednesday evening, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said the suspect, a 30-year-old man, is in custody. According to Commissioner Bethel, the incident began around 2:42 p.m. Wednesday, when an officer requested backup because of fights outside of the school.

Just before 4 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for parts of Northampton County.

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A federal prosecutor announced Tuesday that Imoleayo Samuel Aina, aka “Alice Dave,” 27, of Nigeria, pleaded guilty to charges in connection with the sexual extortion and death of a young man in Southeastern Pennsylvania. According to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Aina and co-defendant Samuel Olasunkanmi Abiodun, 25, were arrested in Nigeria and taken into custody by the FBI on July 31, 2024.
