KING CITY — King City’s 2025 Beautification Week, running June 20-29, kicked off last Wednesday with a barbecue luncheon at San Lorenzo Park. This year marks the 33rd year for the week, which encourages those who live or work within King City to do at least one thing to improve the appearance of the town.

KING CITY — More than 200 seniors celebrated the end of their academic journey at King City High School last Saturday, before a packed audience at War Memorial Stadium. The June 7 graduation ceremony opened with a presentation of the flags by the KCHS Military Science color guard, along with a string performance of the national anthem by Stephanie Barron-Alcala. Principal Michael Gray reflected on the time he spent with the class since their journey began in 2021.

KING CITY — Staff from the City of King as well as personnel from the King City Police Department hosted a vigil last Wednesday for Sgt. Ryan Kenedy, who died unexpectedly while on duty on March 25. Community members were able to fill out cards to Kenedy’s family and share their stories of his impact and service. “It’s been a long two weeks and it’s nice to see the community come out to honor Sgt. Ryan Kenedy,” said King City Chief of Police James Hunt. “Ryan was simply taken from us too soon.

KING CITY — King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture recognized four top contributors to the community this past Saturday. The audience gathered at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds’ Orradre Building to honor Debby Norman as the Citizen of the Year, King City Town Square as the Business of the Year, Rodolfo Tapia as Friend of the Community and Dalilah Reyes as the Hermie Robles Youth Award recipient for the year 2024.
