Cool nights, good company and a steak and potatoes meal by an open fire grill — that’s what al fresco nights at the Myrtles Plantation are all about. “Al fresco” is Italian for “in the cool air,” and in the U.S., it’s been adopted to refer to outdoor dining in general. For the month of May, al fresco dining is coming to The Myrtles every Tuesday night through thoughtfully paired steak dinners with optional bottomless wine.

Costco errands are about to get a lot more fun with a new food truck rolling into the neighborhood. Birria & Barbacoa De Chivo Los Compadres announced that the taco truck is closing early at 5 p.m. May 7 so the owners can relocate it to a new location: the Floor and Decor parking lot near Costco at 10021 Professional Blvd., Baton Rouge. After that, the taco truck will operate from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends as normal.

Spanish Town Market and Cofe is now serving pizza, and they’re doing it with a Caribbean flair. After answering an ad from social media, owner of Boswell's Jamaican Grill in New Orleans, Kaala Lawla, will be opening Ooh Law-La pizza in the market, serving pizzas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for soft opening days. After a grand opening May 31, the Cofe plans to have expanded hours and more pizza options/menu items.
