PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Veterans and their families were able to learn more about services available through the VA. Saturday, Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care hosted a resource event at the joint ambulatory care center in Pensacola. Saturday’s resource event included healthcare enrollment, women’s health, suicide prevention, toxic exposure screenings, and more. Va officials say this is their third annual event – which grows each year. World War two veterans were also recognized for their service.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Electric motorized bicycles or “e-bikes” have grown in popularity over the years. Now, two Northwest Florida sheriffs say with that growth they want to push the importance of safety. Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons and Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson are reminding riders you must follow traffic laws. Both tell WEAR News there are many people who rely on e-bikes. And there is nothing wrong with them, as long as they are used correctly.

Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed more than 600 state arts and culture grants last year. As a result, the Jazz Society announced it's canceling Pensacola's 43rd annual JazzFest -- which usually happens in April. An artistic director says the JazzFest isn’t the only event to feel this impact now. Northwest Florida is home to many arts-related events and festivals, like The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival, Foo Foo Fest, Jazzfest, Pensacola Little Theatre and Pensacola Children’s Chorus -- just to name a few.

That explosive damaged a Fort Walton Beach sandwich shop and injured one employee. A Jimmy Johns employee says he was at the drive-thru when that explosive device landed nearby and went off. "After I realized it was some type of explosion, I thought 'that could've been my life,’” said Jimmy Johns employee Anthony Krajacic. In the parking lot of a Harley Davidson and Jimmy Johns on Beal Parkway, people say a man pointed a gun at them.

Atmore Police say the initial call was for a domestic violence complaint at a home on Blount Street before Francis Blount shot multiple rounds at officers, which escalated into a nearly six hour stand-off. Court records show Blount was convicted twice before on domestic violence charges and he plead guilty to charges of assault. Now, he’s facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and kidnapping.
