CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 20-year-old Honduran national living illegally in Corpus Christi has been convicted of unlawfully possessing a firearm, U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced. Josias Eliseo Ulloa-Pavon was driving under the influence of alcohol before crashing his vehicle on February 18. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Ulloa-Pavon pinned inside his fully overturned vehicle with no other cars in the vicinity.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 44-year-old Mexican national with a felony criminal history has been sentenced to federal prison after illegally reentering the United States. Juan Humberto Lara Molina will serve 24 months in federal prison following his guilty plea on February 13. Not being a U.S. citizen, he is expected to face removal proceedings after completing his sentence. U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos imposed the sentence, noting Molina's criminal history raised serious concerns.

ROBSTOWN, Texas — A $9 million project to resurface State Highway 44 in Robstown is scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 28, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The project will be completed in two phases, with the first phase starting at US 77/I-69 and proceeding east to FM 1694. This segment is expected to be completed by the end of July.

While no one was injured, police have blocked off Paul Jones on the south side of SPID while the investigation takes place. Several bullet casings have been found in the area. After 72 years in service, the building that has hosted scores of Hamlin Rebels and now Hamlin Hawks will be closing its doors to students for the last time on May 29th. But CCISD is giving those who once attended Hamlin one last chance to walk those halls. On Tuesday, May 27th, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., a final walk will be held for the public. CCISD wants to hear your favorite memories of the school building as they prepare for the move into the brand new Hamlin Middle School Building.
