A man from Brent was killed in a crash late Monday night. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said George Middlebrooks, 64, was driving a Toyota Camry when it left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. The wreck happened after 10 p.m. on Bibb County Road 1, several miles north of Brent. The state troopers said Middlebrooks died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, ALEA said. One person was killed and others were injured in a wreck on Interstate 65 in Hoover.The Hoover Police Department reported officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-65 just past the U.S. Highway 31 exit.The wreck happened about 8 p.m. and was located in the southbound lanes.Police said one person died at the scene and two others were injured and taken to a hospital.

First responders in one part of Montgomery County were dispatched to an unusual call recently.According to a social media post, firefighters with the Waugh-Mt. Residents of Irondale will soon have a new fire station.The city announced a groundbreaking celebration is planned for Irondale Fire Station No. 3, located on John Rogers Drive.The ceremony is set for Tuesday, May 27 at 11 a.m.Irondale leaders approved an $8 million construction bid for the new fire station in March.“This groundbreaking represents more than the construction of a building—it’s an investment in the safety, health, and future of Irondale,” said fire chief Josh McDaniel.
