Waterford volunteer-led LGBTQIA organisation Pride of the Déise has written an open letter to Sinn Fein TD David Cullinane. The letter on social media is in response to comments made by the Déise deputy on X (Twitter) that the recent Scottish Supreme Court ruling on the legal definitions of a woman and biological sex was a "common sense judgement."Deputy Cullinane has since deleted the post and apologised. In their letter, Pride of the Déise said they had "grave concerns" about the post.

A Waterford football player has been ordered to pay €2,000 to a woman whose bank account was robbed and the money transferred to his account. Callum Stringer (23), of 10 Wayburn Close, Earlscourt, Waterford, pleaded guilty to money laundering at a recent sitting of Waterford District Court before Judge Kevin Staunton. The court heard that on August 27, 2022, €4,680 was withdrawn from an ATM in Cork.

Reacting on Prime Time, Waterford TD David Cullinane said the report did show a “litany of neglect” and “failures”, but it does not establish the extent of what happened to Grace in her 20 years in the home.

A judge at Waterford District Court has refused jurisdiction in the case of a man charged in connection with a €10.6 million drug seizure in March. Michael Murphy (61), of Carriganurra, Slieverue, Kilkenny, appeared by video link before Judge John Cheatle. The defendant is charged with possession of cocaine contrary to Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and possession of cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply contrary to Section 15 of the same act on March 18, 2025.
