A 34-year-old woman has been charged with torture, accused of giving a baby girl unauthorised medicine and posting photos of her in "immense distress and pain" to elicit donations. The Sunshine Coast woman was arrested at Underwood, in Brisbane's south, on Thursday and charged with administering poison with intent to harm, making child exploitation material and fraud. She was also charged with preparation to commit crimes with dangerous things.

A man is in a critical condition after a shooting in Brisbane's south. Emergency services were called to Saverin Road in Logan just after 10pm last night. Police say a 36-year-old man presented to Logan Hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transferred to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition. Police say the offender fled the scene. A crime scene has been declared and anyone with information is being urged to contact police.

Queensland police have released CCTV footage in a public appeal for more information about the shooting murder of a 23-year-old woman in a suburban street north of Brisbane on Sunday. Officers were called to Railway Parade in Caboolture just after midnight on Sunday, where they found a 23-year-old woman lying on the footpath, unconscious and not breathing. A man will face court today after allegedly shooting at a vehicle during a roadside incident south-west of Brisbane. Police allege a man, 22, was travelling in Rosevale around 6am on Boxing Day when he pulled over to the side of the road and exited his car. A 53-year-old man who was driving behind him also pulled up and allegedly shot a firearm striking the man's vehicle. Police believe the pair are not known to each other.

Two people are critically injured and another person has suffered minor burns after a house fire at Townsville in Queensland's north this morning. The blaze engulfed a home on Mooney Street in Gulliver just after 3am. A man around 80-years-old and a woman around 50-years-old were taken to Townsville University Hospital with life-threatening airway burns but are now in a stable condition. A man around 50-years-old was been taken to hospital with minor burns.
