They will be removed and the timber from the damaged trees will be turned into woodchips. A city councillor says early talks are underway to replace the trees that will be cut down. Showers are expected to ease across sodden south-east Queensland as several flood warnings remain in the wake of ex-Cyclone Alfred, according to the weather bureau. It comes as Brisbane recorded its highest daily rainfall total in more than half a century, with flooding impacting the Lockyer Valley region, including Ipswich. Major flood warnings remain in place for the Bremer River and Warrill Creek in Brisbane's west, and the Logan River in Brisbane's south.
