The New Orleans Saints are now poised with a decision to make after quarterback Derek Carr announced his retirement Saturday. The Saints have not announced who will start in the position; however, there are two obvious options on the table. Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler started for several games last season when Carr was injured. Although his performance was not stellar, he does have more starting experience in the NFL than his competition, rookie Tyler Shough.

Behind a complete-game shutout from Lainee Bailey, the Southeastern Louisiana University softball team forced a deciding game three in the Southland Conference Softball Championship Series with a 2-0 win over McNeese Friday evening at Cowgirl Diamond. Bailey (5-1) held the Cowgirls (41-19) to four hits in the first complete-game shutout of her Lady Lion career and the first shutout of McNeese at home by a conference opponent since 2017.

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., linebacker Danny Stutsman, cornerback Quincy Riley, running back Devin Neal, tight end Moliki Matavao and edge Fadil Diggs to four-year contracts. Banks, 6-5, 315, was the Saints' first pick (ninth overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas.

The Southern States Athletic Conference Baseball Champions already knew it was in the NAIA National Championship tournament. Now, the Loyola Wolf Pack knows their destination. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the bracket for its NAIA National Championship Opening Round, and the Pack is heading to Waleska, Georgia, as the No. 2 seed.
