The Tulane baseball team (24-16, 8-6 AAC) handed UTSA (29-10, 11-3 AAC) just their second home loss of the season with a thrilling 5-3 victory on Friday night, April 18, at Roadrunner Field. Tulane took their first lead of the series with three runs in the fifth and added a big insurance run in the sixth to back 4.2 scoreless innings of relief between Tayler Montiel and Michael Lombardi. The two combined for just two hits allowed and five strikeouts.

The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team picked up a run-rule victory over UTRGV, 12-1, in seven innings Friday in Southland Conference action at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Southeastern (31-8, 16-4 SLC) has taken the first two games of the conference series against the Vaqueros (25-12, 16-7 SLC). Combined with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's 13-5 win at McNeese (16-5 SLC), the Lions have moved into sole possession of first place in the Southland standings.

No. 9 LSU levels the series and snaps a four-game losing streak with a 6-1 victory over No. 3 Texas on Friday evening at Red & Charline McCombs Field. Three two-run innings lifted LSU (36-9, 9-8 SEC) over Texas (40-6, 12-5 SEC), setting up a winner-takes-all game on Saturday morning. LSU pitcher Tatom Clopton (6-1) earned the win in the circle after firing a total of 104 pitches in 5.2 innings, where she concluded with two strikeouts and gave up one run, four hits and five walks.
