The Dickson County School Board met in regular session March 27 and among the items on the agenda was a resolution calling for a one-time teacher bonus. The board discussed drafting a resolution to award one-time bonuses to employees after the State of Tennessee passed the controversial Education Freedom Act in January that allows individual school districts the option of accepting state funds to provide some certified employees with $2,000 bonuses for the 2024-2025 school year.

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Dickson County Woman’s Club is characterized by women helping women, and its annual awards reception by women honoring women. The GFWCDCWC held its third annual awards reception at the Dickson County Government Building in March to honor those who give back to Dickson County. Though the club has always found ways to honor its members and contributors, the club began a formal awards reception in 2023 to make it a special event.
