The sounds of voices singing, violins playing and trumpets blowing filled the La Mirada Theatre for Performing Arts on the evening of Dec. 7. The spirit of Christmas came alive at Biola’s Annual Christmas Concert, “Let the Nations Rejoice!,” where students, friends and families gathered together to celebrate the birth of Christ in song and praise.

As the semester nears its end, students may be looking for something that will put them in the holiday spirit. On Dec. 7 at 7 p.m., Biola’s Conservatory of Music will be hosting their annual Christmas concert, “Let the Nations Rejoice!,” filling the La Mirada Theatre for Performing Arts with music celebrating the birth of Christ. Almost 200 students have taken part in the performance that will bring Christmas cheer to those who attend.

Tubist Alyssa Moriel gives an insider’s look at one of Biola’s concerts. On Nov. 8, in Lansing Recital Hall, director Daniel Brier conducted the Biola Symphony Orchestra, inspiring the spirit of the Thanksgiving season. But filling the hall with the beautiful melodies of famous compositions is no easy feat. Lots of time and practice went into the making of this performance.

Early on the morning of Oct. 9, hundreds of students lined up outside Chase Gymnasium, eagerly awaiting the start of Biola’s 89th Torrey Memorial Bible Conference. This year’s theme — Wholehearted — delves into how we Christians can worship God with our whole being and our undivided attention. Keynote speakers comprising Biola faculty and guest speakers from across the country dive into topics such as grief, political conflict and same-sex attraction, with Psalm 86:11 at the core.

Thousands of Christians gathered together to worship with well-known contemporary music collective. Amidst the fog, high up in the stands of the Intuit Dome, the sight of thousands of people gathered in one space to worship overwhelms me. Psalm 34:3 tells us to “Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together,” and that is what happened at the Elevation Nights ‘24 concert on Sept. 28.
