The transit authority plans to implement deep service cuts due to a budget deficit, with cuts beginning in August 2025 and another round of reductions in January 2026. Up to 50 bus routes, five regional rail lines, and one metro line could be eliminated.

King II, OIC’s national president, said that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation — PennDOT as it’s most commonly called — has roughly 900 African American employees, averaging about 2% to 5% of its workforce.

Philadelphia International Airport held a ribbon-cutting on Monday to celebrate its newest exhibit featuring the The Philadelphia Tribune as it commemorates 140 years of existence. The large display entitled “Journey of Excellence,” is featured at Terminal D, showcases the paper’s history through a chronological timeline, front pages over the years and publications.
