ZANESVILLE, OH – It’s a big day for Muskingum County as a historic site prepares to serve a whole new purpose. Local leaders, law enforcement, and community members gathered today to break ground on the new Muskingum County Jail. The new facility will be built on the site of the former Mosaic Tile Company factory. The project comes with a $78.6 million price tag and is expected to be completed in 2027.

This weekend, a few more familiar names are getting their place on the wall, as Zanesville celebrates it’s Hall of Fame Class of 2025 with a special induction ceremony. The Muskingum Valley Park District has acquired more than six acres of riverfront property on the west side of the Muskingum River. The spot, once known as Kirkbride Marine, will soon be transformed into Straker Landing, thanks to a partnership with the J.W. and M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation.
