    Rush is stressful for every participant no matter the circumstances: active sorority members want their house to appeal to rushees and want to find those that best align with their sisterhood’s values. Meanwhile, Potential New Members (PNMs) have to put their best selves forward to find the house they will run home to at the end of the week. This year, a major change was made: rush week was held fully in-person for the first time since before COVID-19.

    After the recent presidential election, cancellation of an Oct. 7 guest lecturer and announcement of  The Grounds, Brendle Recital Hall buzzed in anticipation of Wake Forest President Susan R. Wente’s third annual address. During the address, which took place on Nov. 14, Wente said that she began the semester with the goal that this would be a time of action for the University. “All that work,” Wente said, “Your work, lights the path for all parts of the university.

    The Zeta Omicron Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority announced on Nov. 7 its decision to switch from a traditional primary recruitment to a Continuous Open Recruitment (COR) process. This announcement, which was made via an Instagram post, stated that the change will begin in the upcoming spring 2025 semester. Members of the chapter declined to speak with the Old Gold & Black. However, the statement said that the shift would better suit the chapter’s values.

    Students, staff and faculty may remember the Pitsgiving reserved table, priority housing registration times and basketball tickets that were raffled earlier this year as incentives to encourage participation in the first enterprise-wide campus climate survey. Nearly a year later, the University is analyzing and sharing the 3,865 completed survey responses to gain better insight into the Wake Forest community. Three interactive forums, which took place on Oct. 31 for students and Nov. 1 and Nov.
