I finally got the chance to visit a Hull restaurant that has my favourite dish of all time on the menu. Kurdistan in Spring Bank makes baba ghanoush, a silky-smooth flame roasted aubergine dip with sesame paste and garlic. I've tried making it at home by sticking aubergines on the open flame of my hob, but absolutely nothing can compare to this dish when it is cooked by an expert.

I recently visited an independent café in east Hull with a friendly atmosphere and delicious homemade brownies. Lily's Bake House in Holderness Road is a fairly new spot, having opened at the end of November 2024. Since, then, it has received many positive reviews and been ranked as Hull's number one bakery on TripAdvisor. The dog-friendly café has a constantly changing rotation of homemade cakes and sweet treats, as well as savoury baked goods such as sausage rolls.

A man who was assaulted on Spring Bank while he was holding his dog had to go to hospital with a fracture and suspected concussion suffering "the worst pain I have been in". Sebastian had been with his partner heading to an Easter Sunday dinner with his family, but ended up drenched in blood and in the "worst pain of my life" following the attack at around 11:15am. Josh Miles, 22, was inspired to create Ace of Waves because he believes good hair can make men feel more confident in their looks. The result was a UK-made, vegan and cruelty-free product range with rave reviews. He was raised by his grandmother in Rutland Street in the East Marsh area of Grimsby.

The emergency services were practising water rescues at Princes Quay in Hull city centre today. Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and Humberside Police took part in a joint training exercise for a scenario in which four people have entered the water and one is below the surface. It started at around 10:30am, with the Fire Service leading the initial search and the police's Regional Marine and Underwater Search Unit taking over for the recovery of the body - in this case a training dummy.

Morning! I'm looking to speak with renters who have relocated to Hull or East Yorkshire from more expensive parts of the country and who'd be willing to share their experiences. Ideally, you'd be happy to be named and pictured in Hull Live. Please LMK
