There were 1,726 STI sexually transmitted infections recorded in Milton Keynes in 2024, down 9% from 1,896 the year before. But while numbers are down experts warned the level of sexually transmitted infections in England remains a "big threat to sexual wellbeing". The cses of STIs included 1,066 diagnoses of chlamydia, 212 of gonorrhoea, and 21 of infectious syphilis in the area.

Fewer people were killed across Yorkshire's roads last year when compared with the year before, but one city has been named as the worst in the region. Figures from the Department for Transport reveal a total of 12,345 casualties on roads in Yorkshire and the Humber in 2024, which was down by four percent from the 12,799 casualties in 2023. This included 137 deaths, down from 169 deaths in 2023. Meanwhile, there were 128,375 casualties nationwide, down three percent from 2023.

The number of criminals in Nottinghamshire sent to jail last year was the highest since 2018, new figures show. It comes as an independent sentencing review led by former justice secretary David Gauke has recommended reforms to overhaul the prisons system to deal with the capacity crisis. Ministry of Justice (MoJ) figures show 1,998 criminals were handed an immediate custodial sentence in Nottinghamshire last year – up from 1,945 in 2023 and the highest number since 2018.

More than 1,500 road casualties were reported in Nottinghamshire last year, provisional figures show. It comes as the AA called on the Government to introduce harsher penalties for not wearing a seat belt or drug-driving. Provisional figures from the Department for Transport (DfT) show there were 1,609 casualties on roads in Nottinghamshire last year – up slightly from 1,606 in 2023. The casualties last year included 27 fatalities, an increase from 23 deaths in 2023.
