Kemper Fellowship, an award honoring University of Missouri faculty for teaching excellence, came to a close Tuesday. The Kemper faculty award, MU's highest teaching recognition, is a peer-nominated honor that recognizes five faculty each year. It includes a $15,000 stipend for honorees to spend however they'd like.

For adults with blood cancer seeking treatment nearby, driving to Kansas City or St. Louis to receive care could no longer be a reality. It's the first of its kind: A program for blood cancer patients and their caregivers in central Missouri, all within the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. The first patient treated by MU Health Care's new program was at the end of July. Now, it has served four total patients. MU Health Care hematologist and oncologist Gerhard Hildebrandt is the leader of the program.
