    BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - A former teacher at Still Creek Christian Academy was arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student, just months after her father, a former house parent at Still Creek Ranch, was charged in a separate case involving sexual misconduct with a minor. According to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Brooke Martinez is accused of knowingly and intentionally having an improper relationship with an 18-year-old student in 2024.

    Austin, Texas (KBTX) - Wednesday was busy day for the House of Representatives as it passed House Bill 2, allocating $8 billion of funding to public schools, with overwhelming support. The vote came out to 144-4. HB 2 will increase the funding for school districts and teachers’ salaries.

    BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - With spring flowers blooming and temperatures rising, bee hives are growing. When they grow too big half the hive will split and try to find a new home. During this process they may gather in a large ball around a tree branch or even a fence. While this can appear a bit scary, local beekeeper Chris Barnes says don’t panic. He explained that while their swarming they are usually docile because there’s no honey, home or baby bees to protect.

    College Station, Texas (KBTX) - Hundreds of people gathered today in College Station for the Special Olympics Spring Games. Every year all area districts gather to compete in an array of events ranging from tennis ball throws to relay races. Volunteers spoke fondly about participating. Describing it as an amazing opportunity for all the athletes having a chance to compete and be apart of something together as a community.

    COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Today was Kyle Field Day which provides opportunities for students at Texas A&M and community members to actively connect and participate with service organizations in the area. Although it was a bit chilly out, the event still hosted a wide variety of organizations ranging from small-scale projects to participating in spreading awareness about services. There was also food, music, free t-shirts, and a surprising amount of dogs.
