Coloradans are about to start seeing a new type of vehicle on the roads – and it's sure to turn heads. On May 9, Governor Jared Polis signed HB25-1281 into law, which makes a Japanese style of vehicle called a 'kei vehicle' street legal in Colorado. Known for their tiny size, these four-wheel vehicles offer a cheaper and fun way to get around. The bill also established the proper process for titling, registration, and use.

An interesting rescue mission took place in Arizona in recent days, and an important lesson learned from that incident is one that can benefit Colorado's hikers, too. According to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, rescue crews were called to assist a man lost in the area of Granite Mountain at about 4:30 p.m. on May 4.

As the popularity of Colorado's Blue Lakes of the San Juans has been on the rise in recent years, the United States Forest Service has come up with a plan to better manage visitor impacts in this remote and delicate area. The plan consists of multiple phases, the first of which will address parking, waste, and sustainability concerns. After approval last year, this first phase will start in June, with the Blue Lakes trailhead set to close on June 2.

Local residents probably haven't noticed, but Denver is sinking – in other words, the Mile High City might not be a 'mile high' forever. A report written by Leonard O. Ohenhen, et al. that was published in Nature Cities on May 8 took a look at which major metros areas around the United States were sinking, highlighting 28 places that are sinking between 2 and 10 millimeters each year.
