ILLIOPOLIS, Ill. — In a small classroom in Illiopolis, 10-year-old Leo is on a mission to educate his peers about kidney donation, all while facing his own urgent need for a new kidney. "Put your hand like this—that's how big your kidney is. The size of your fist," Leo explained to his classmates. He is preparing to be placed on the kidney transplant list on February 14. Leo was born with IPEX, a rare autoimmune disorder that has necessitated two bone marrow transplants and numerous hospital visits.
