TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Dozens of protesters lined the sidewalk outside the Florida Capitol Sunday to call for gun reform in the wake of a fatal campus shooting. The protesters were calling for action after a shooter opened fire Thursday on passerby at Florida State University, killing two and injuring six others. Students from FSU and nearby Florida A&M University turned out to the rally, as well as members of Students for a Democratic Society and the Tallahassee Community Action Committee.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/AP) - Two people have died and multiple others are hospitalized after a shooter opened fire Thursday on Florida State University’s campus, officials said. In a press conference Thursday afternoon, local officials shared that six additional people are hospitalized and the shooter is also hospitalized. Authorities identified the suspected shooter as 20-year-old FSU student Phoenix Ikner. The deceased are not students, according to FSU Police.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Many in the community are still processing the death of Lori Paige, a 12-year-old who was found dead earlier this month after a nearly two-year search. The Griffin Middle School student’s remains were found in Thomas County on April 5 at the Merrily Plantation. Her 36-year-old father, Andrew Wiley, is now behind bars in connection to her death and disappearance, facing a second-degree murder charge, Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell announced Friday.

(WCTV) - Four FSU students were recognized at Tuesday’s Leon County commission meeting for their life-saving efforts in helping a man who collapsed on a golf course last month. “You don’t really know how to prepare for something like that,” FSU Junior Ty Schmidt said. Schmidt was playing a late afternoon round of golf at Hilaman Golf Course with his friends Charles Frantz, Tommy Provenzano and Brandon Moore in March.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A radar-confirmed tornado twisted strong gusts through the Killearn Lakes community early Monday, leaving one Tallahassee family with a tree in their bedroom. Neighbors said that when the wind began to pick up Monday, the situation escalated pretty quickly. The tornado - which the National Weather Service will likely survey in the next few days - left multiple trees snapped in half and launched debris into the sky.
