There’s no two ways about it. It was a tough, tough loss for the Bobcats. Last year during semifinal play the Tigers dominated the football field beating the Bobcats 47 – 16. This year, however, the two teams were more evenly matched. It was a hard fought game with the Tigers getting on the scoreboard first with a touchdown early in the first quarter. The Bobcat defense had stopped them cold forcing them to punt. No. 23, Tanner McGaugh returned the punt to the 36-yard line before being tackled.

More than 260 people registered for the Pike County Health Department’s 7th Annual Turkey Trot that took place Thanksgiving morning. According the PCHD, this is the largest number of people who had registered for this event in its seven years. People began arriving early to get ready for the run/walk/trot. There were a few changes for this year’s Turkey Trot. According to Rhonda Stumbaugh, they changed the route of the 5K and put out directional signs instead of using a lead car for the runners.

Norton’s Brew serves loaded teasMore than a few people were probably upset when Full Throttle Nutrition closed. But it didn’t take long for that space to be filled. Jessica Norton opened Norton’s Brew in the same space Nov. 9, and she said business has been going well for her. Originally, she said, she wanted to open a trailer to serve her loaded teas, but things got put on hold when the purchase of a house was in the works.

This, the second meeting of these two teams had a much different outcome than the first meeting. During the regular season, the Valle Catholic Warriors played well that first game handing the Bobcats their only loss during the season. There was a lot riding on this game, and the Bobcats were up to the task. This time, the defense put a lot of pressure on the Warrior quarterback and backs pass coverage prevented them from getting the long yardage.

Conceived as a way to draw more people to Bowling Green to showcase the myriad of locally-owned and run businesses, Kay Reading and Evelyn Graham came up with the idea of getting the owners to band together for a retail event just ahead of the Christmas season. That brought about Christmas in the Green. Since those early days, the event has continued to grow.
