Former Akron police captain Doug Prade’s hopes of being released from prison have been dashed – at least for now. The Ohio Parole Board has denied Prade’s first request for parole and ordered that he remain in prison until at least 2033 when he will have another hearing. 'I didn't do it.': Ex-Akron police Capt. Kent State University will close its LGBTQ+ Center, Women’s Center and Student Multicultural Center in response to Senate Bill 1, the university announced June 2. The LGBTQ Resource Center at KSU’s Stark Campus also will be shut down and the university will discontinue an LGBTQ+ Living Learning Community that had been offered in its dorms.

Margo Prade was slain in November 1997; her ex-husband was convicted of her murder. Margo was the valedictorian of her class and completed an accelerated undergraduate program before getting her medical degree. Margo is mourned by many in the community, including her friends, family and thousands of former patients. When Donzella Anuszkiewicz heard that her best friend Dr. Margo Prade had been shot in November 1997, she sped over to her Akron medical office.
