Queensland's former body corporate commissioner says a legal dispute over a red roof is a ludicrous waste of taxpayer money. Chris Irons says the dispute should never have reached the Body Corporate and Community Management Commission, which involves significant legal fees. The home owner has been ordered to repaint her roof a different shade of red.

Brisbane's defunct music icon The Zoo will reopen after closing in June due to unprofitability. This morning, heavy metal venue The Crowbar announced it would take over The Zoo with a view to reopening in mid to late November. Prior to closing, The Zoo was one of the longest-standing and most well-known live music spaces in Brisbane's nightlife. The Zoo's owners said the venue had been losing money for three years prior to its collapse in 2024.

A wildlife sanctuary in Queensland has denied any animal welfare concerns in deciding to scrap its koala cuddling experiences. The general manager of Brisbane's Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Lyndon Discombe, said the recent decision was motivated by feedback from visitors that suggested people wanted to get up close with koalas, but not hold them. The popular Lone Pine koala cuddling experience has historically been booked out weeks, and sometimes months, in advance.
