It other places, the earth literally opened up. That was the case along a portion of the Mesabi Bike Trail near Biwabik, with a gaping cave-in between Giants Ridge and Highway 135. Tuesday night emergency crews were called into the rainy darkness to deal with a first report of a washout. Little did they know.

Verdict came this week in 2022 death. Two years ago, a 17-year-old Duluth resident was shot and killed. Tuesday the shooter was found guilty. Corey Devon Young was found guilty of second-degree intentional murder. He is now 19 years old, but was 17 at the time of the shooting. In July of 2022, Duluth police were called to 1st Street and 16th Avenue East, next to Endion Park. Young had just shot another 17-year-old. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"Little people singing loudly and boldly" part of 140-year history. There was a special concert and a big celebration Thursday in Duluth. There was music echoing across the grounds, and hand motions driving home the lyrics on the Holy Rosary campus. It was the spring concert for the Stella Maris Academy. The concert capped off the school year for children from kindergarten through sixth grade.

DULUTH, Minn. — Supporters of the Duluth Armory project had several big announcements to make Wednesday. One of them is that the word went out that contractors can now submit bids for the project, and a final selection will be made by this July. Construction will start late this year and get in full swing next year. Project leaders say the grand opening is now slotted for two years from now. There was also big leadership news.
