Young, a prop, said it was not a mark he had particularly eyed up but once it came within view and he decided he would play long enough to get to the tally.

Environment Southland says rivers in the region are being put under increasing pressure due to more frequent and severe weather and past approaches do not cut the mustard. It is looking at new ways to fund the maintenance of the region’s rivers and who should pay for it. The old model of those living closest to the rivers paying the most maintenance appears headed for the rubbish bin with new funding regimes to be introduced.
