The Maryville University women’s hockey team cleared a huge hurdle in its climb toward the top, but the Saints ended up one goal short of their ultimate goal. Maryville, in its fifth season, finally got past the quarterfinals of the Division 1 ACHA National Championship and advanced to the title game before losing 2-1 in double overtime to Liberty on March 21 in St. Louis.

Like a cactus growing in the desert, the UNLV men’s hockey team showed incredible resiliency during the ACHA Division 1 National Championship. The Skatin’ Rebels bounced back from 2-0 deficits in quarterfinal and semifinal games against Maryville and Liberty, respectively, to clinch a rematch with Adrian, who beat UNLV 3-0 to win the 2024 national title. UNLV avenged last year’s loss with a 7-3 win over the Bulldogs on March 18 in St. Louis to clinch the program’s first national championship.

Serving as Eastern Michigan’s captain, she helped lead the group to an undefeated campaign and a trip to the ACHA Division 2 National Championships in the team’s inaugural season.

Every four years, USA Hockey updates its set of playing rules, and this past January, at USA Hockey’s Winter Meeting, a number of rules changes were voted on and adopted by the USA Hockey Congress, all which go in effect for the 2025-26 season. Among the most notable changes approved include:  • Allowing teams to play with delayed/tag-up offside in the Youth 15 and Only and above, and Girls 16U and above, age classifications.
