FRISCO, Texas - The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team tallied three goals in the opening 10 minutes of play but fell to Norway, 4-3, in overtime this afternoon at Comerica Center in pre-tournament play ahead of the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship.
“Today was a reminder that any team can win on any given day at this tournament," said Greg Moore, head coach of the U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team. "We are fortunate this was a pre-tournament game.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Bob Motzko isn’t in the habit of turning down coaching opportunities with USA Hockey. And when one of those opportunities just happens to be in his home state of Minnesota?
“Of course, you have to say yes,” he said.
The 2026 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship comes to the Twin Cities at the end of the year, and USA Hockey tapped Motzko on Tuesday to coach the two-time defending champions.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Greg Moore (Lisbon, Maine), in his second season as a head coach at USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, will lead the U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team at the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship, it was announced today by USA Hockey.
The tournament is slated for April 23-May 3 in Frisco and Allen, Texas, and tickets can be purchased online here.

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — John Koufis’ hockey journey has taken him around the world.
The sport has allowed him to represent his native country and make life-long friendships. As a player-owner for the Chicago Sharks, he has been part of teams that have won seven national championships.
On April 6, he hoped he and the shorthanded Sharks would repeat as 50-plus Tier 1 champs in the 2025 USA Hockey Adult Men's National Championships.
However, the deeper Northland Stars from Minnesota prevailed 5-3.

Over the past 15 seasons, girls hockey in the United States has seen a participation increase of 36.5%.
With that increase in players, there is further opportunities to grow the coaching ranks, which is only 7% female, according to Kristine Wing, USA Hockey's coach-in-chief for female development. One of the refrains surrounding the PWHL has been, “If she can see it, she can be it,” and Wing wants to make sure that line of thinking extends to coaching pathways for women.

STRONGVILLE, Ohio — The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (PA) wasted no time in overtime of the 1A title game of the 2025 Chipotle-USA Hockey Girls Tier II 19U National Championships.
Just 33 seconds into the extra period, Flyers defender Kylie Chandler snuck a shot into a sliver of the net to clinch a 3-2 win against the Tri-City Eagles (MD).
“It’s an unreal feeling, I’m still thinking about my goal and still hyped and shaking about it,” Chandler said.

Matt Ryu’s assist on the Anaheim Jr. Ducks’ recent game-winner carried all the way from South Korea to Madison, Wisconsin.
Ryu, in his first season of youth hockey in the United States, had one of the two assists on the overtime goal that lifted the Anaheim Jr. Ducks (CA) to a 3-2 victory over Team Alaska in the Pacific District final and clinched a berth in the 2025 Chipotle-USA Hockey Youth Tier I 16U National Championship in Madison.
